5-Step Guide to Slim Down This Summer
Summer is right around the corner and the ocean is calling your name! Your bags are packed, you’re ready to go, but is there one little thing standing between you and your yearly vacation? Don’t fret being bikini ready! If you’re in a pinch to slim down before jumping into your bikini, you’re in luck! Read on for the best kept weight-loss secrets!
Step 1: Cut out the booze!
That’s right! It’s time to send your alcohol on a little vacation of its own! Alcohol works in similar ways as sugar- your body creates an insulin resistance which in turn promotes weight gain. Ditch the beverage that contains far too many calories and so few benefits!
Step 2: Stay hydrated!
Drinking at least 2 liters of water is a must to shed weight effectively and safely. Try adding some lemon slices, strawberries, and cucumber to your water for a twist you can’t beat! A little dash of mint makes a refreshing, non-alcoholic strawberry mojito you will love!
Step 3: Eat food!
Commonly, people think that not eating will help you lose weight. While that is unhealthy and certainly unsafe, not eating proper meals can actually lead to excessive fat storage in your body, in turn, only adding to your weight gain! Cut back on artificial sugars and processed foods instead! Limit your carbs and eat clean! Aim for a diet full of fruits and vegetables and portion control your meat. A plate full of quinoa, vegetables, and 3 oz of meat is far better than a grab-and-go burger with fries. Make a meal plan and stick to it! In just a few weeks, you will start to see a difference!
Step 4: Get in your daily exercise!
After following through with a nutritious and high-quality diet, drinking enough water, and eliminating alcohol, artificial sugars, and processed foods, you are more than halfway there! Break a little sweat at the end of the day! Go for a run at the park, take your dogs for a walk, or hit your nearest gym for a little high-intensity cardio! Whatever exercise you get in before the end of the day is one step closer to that bikini body you’re craving!
Step 5: Rest up!
Make sure you’re getting 7-9 hours of sleep per night! In order for your body to function smoothly, you need to be well rested. Lack of sleep can put added stress on the body and cause weight-loss difficulties, water retention, and food processing complications. Go to bed an hour sooner, or sleep in a little later. The sleep you get today will be the results you see tomorrow!
Put these tips together and you’ve got yourself the perfect plan to slimming down healthily and effectively this summer! See you beachside!
