From Shape-Shifting to Self-Worth: Rediscovering Your Authentic Self with Tara Wiskow

Welcome back to Light Body Radio!

How many people spend their lives becoming who they think they need to be—while losing themselves in the process?

In this powerful episode of Light Body Radio, Dr. Lara May interviews intuitive healer, energy coach, and transformational mentor Tara Wiskow about the deep connection between identity, self-worth, emotional healing, and lasting transformation.

Tara shares her deeply personal story of growing up feeling different, disconnected, and emotionally rejected after discovering at a young age that the father she believed was her biological father was actually her stepfather. That experience sparked years of “shape-shifting,” constantly changing herself to gain love, acceptance, and validation from others.

Over time, those patterns of self-abandonment led to emotional pain, unhealthy coping mechanisms, eating disorders, severe self-criticism, and eventually a complete loss of identity. By the age of 28, Tara was divorced, raising three children, struggling emotionally, and weighing 338 pounds.

After surviving multiple suicide attempts, Tara experienced a transformational turning point when she realized she had spent her entire life trying to change herself through punishment rather than love. That realization became the foundation of her healing journey.

Through practices like:

  • Mirror work and self-love practices

  • Identity shifting and emotional healing

  • NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)

  • Theta healing and energy work

  • Intuitive coaching and mindset transformation

Tara began rebuilding her relationship with herself from the inside out. As she learned to embrace her body, release shame, and reconnect with her authentic identity, she naturally lost over 220 pounds and created a completely new life rooted in self-worth and alignment.

This episode explores:

  • The emotional roots of self-rejection and people-pleasing

  • How trauma and childhood experiences shape identity

  • The connection between self-worth and physical transformation

  • Why self-love is essential for lasting healing and change

  • How women can break free from outdated identities and reclaim their authentic selves

Whether you’re navigating emotional healing, weight loss, self-esteem struggles, or a personal reinvention journey, this conversation offers hope, insight, and a powerful reminder that healing begins when we stop fighting ourselves.
